Char Dham Yatra 2025 Begins: Complete Guide to Dates, Temples, Registration, and Travel Essentials, Here its complete details
The sacred Char Dham Yatra 2025 has officially commenced in Uttarakhand with the ceremonial opening of the Kedarnath Temple doors on May 2. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked the occasion by calling it a ‘state festival’, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth pilgrimage experience for devotees.
Earlier, the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri temples were opened on April 30, while the revered Badrinath Temple is scheduled to open on May 4. With all four shrines opening, the Char Dham Yatra 2025 is now fully underway.
What is Char Dham Yatra?
The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, involving the visit to four revered temples in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
These temples are situated at high altitudes and are accessible only between April/May to October/November each year, as they remain closed during winter due to heavy snowfall.
It is believed that the yatra should be undertaken in a clockwise direction, beginning with Yamunotri, followed by Gangotri, then Kedarnath, and finally ending at Badrinath.
